Formula

What is inside a SlimTide capsule

SlimTide declares three functional components in a vegetarian capsule taken once a day. The manufacturer publishes the ingredient list and names the lead strain, but does not publish a milligram breakdown per ingredient, and this page says so rather than filling the gap with invented numbers.

Declared components, roles and disclosure status
ComponentRole in the formulaDose disclosed
Chicory root inulin Primary prebiotic fibre. A fructan that human enzymes cannot break down, so it reaches the colon intact and is fermented there.[2] Not published
Potato resistant starch Second fibre with a different fermentation profile, included to broaden the range of microbes the blend can feed rather than concentrating on one genus. Not published
Live culture blend, three strains Delivers live organisms alongside their substrate. Akkermansia muciniphila is the strain the manufacturer names.[1] Strain count published, CFU not published
Vegetarian capsule shell Plant-derived shell, no gelatin, no lactose. Not applicable

On missing doses. A number of pages elsewhere on the web publish confident milligram figures for SlimTide. None of them can be traced back to a published Supplement Facts panel. We would rather this page be less impressive and accurate: what is disclosed is disclosed above, and if the manufacturer publishes a full panel we will add it here and date the change.

Why two fibres instead of one

Inulin and resistant starch are not interchangeable. They are fermented by overlapping but distinct populations, at different points along the colon, and at different rates. A single-fibre product feeds a narrower slice of the community; pairing them is a hedge against the considerable variation between one person's gut population and the next. Dietary fibre in general is among the most consistently supported components of a diet in public health guidance, and most adults in the United States fall well short of the recommended intake from food alone.[4]

The practical consequence is the first week. Introducing fermentable fibre to a population that has not been getting much of it produces gas in some people while it adjusts. That is expected, it is usually temporary, and it is the reason the dose is one capsule rather than three.

Why the bottle asks to be refrigerated

Live cultures lose viability with heat and time. Refrigerating an opened bottle is the simplest thing a buyer can do to protect the count that was verified at release. Unopened bottles are stable at room temperature in a cupboard away from direct sun; it is after the seal is broken that the fridge matters. This is also why we do not recommend buying SlimTide from a marketplace reseller: nobody can tell you how long that bottle sat in a hot warehouse.

How to take it

  • One capsule per day, every day.
  • In the morning, ideally before a meal.
  • With a full 8 oz glass of water.
  • Refrigerate the bottle once opened.
  • Give it at least thirty continuous days before judging the result.

Each bottle holds 30 capsules, so one bottle is one month. That is why the packs are sold in multiples of 30 days: two bottles is 60 days, three is 90, six is 180. Pack pricing sits on the prices page, and the reasoning behind the formula is set out in full on the mechanism page. If you want to confirm the lot your bottles will come from, the verification page publishes it.

Who should be cautious

Speak to your physician before starting SlimTide if you are pregnant or nursing, if you are immunocompromised, if you have a diagnosed gastrointestinal condition, or if you take prescription medication. Live cultures in particular warrant a conversation for anyone whose immune function is compromised, a caution the NIH states directly.[1] SlimTide is formulated for healthy adults over 18.
